The Caboose

[The Caboose]

Step back in time and visit our mini-museum in The Red Caboose. The museum display features a photographic history of The Depot, train memorabilia, and period music. While visiting the display, guests also learn about the caboose itself through several informative "notes" placed throughout the caboose. Here are some examples of the old photos in the Caboose Museum:

Reverend and Mrs. Graham in Black Mountain The Reverend and Mrs. Billy Graham at the Black Mountain Train Station.
Mrs. Roosevelt in Black Mountain Mrs. Roosevelt visiting with Girl Scouts at the Black Mountain Station. Can you recognize Willie Headley or Petra Lopes??

There is no admission charge to the display, yet many guests have contributed donations which are used to finance more displays, for restoration of additional old photographs, and general operating expenses.

We hope to continue improving and restoring the physical structure of the Caboose this year with exterior and interior paint, additional displays, and maintaining the deck outside to host performances from entertainers. Last year we installed electricity, which provided heat, lights and more authentic "atmosphere" to the Caboose. Thanks to David Allison for all his work. It looks like we are getting "BACK ON TRACK"! Come see us!
