Rules and Regulations

[The First Poster, Black Mountain Arts & Crafts Show]


1. Each artist/crafter must apply individually with one media per entry form. A "team" of two people producing a single body of work enter as one applicant, but both artists/crafters must sign the application. Booths may not be shared except by "teams" producing a single body of work.

2. If applying in more than one media the artist/crafter is required to submit full sets of photos for each media. Exception: Painters need not submit a separate group of photos for prints.

3. Small gift items such as holiday ornaments or earrings must be within the approved media and must be a logical extension of the body of work approved by the jury.

4. Artists/Crafters participating in the event must be present for the entire show. Breakdown of booths prior to 5PM Sunday will not be permitted and vehicles will not be permitted in the show area prior to that time.

5. The artist/crafter must be present at the show. Agents or hired booth attendants may not be substituted for the presence of the artist/crafter.

6. Works presented must reflect the media presented in the juried photos. Items not in compliance must be removed from display, and exhibitors failing to comply may be suspended from further participation in the show without refund of booth fee.

7. Watercolors, drawings, graphics, photographs, etc. which are not appropriately framed must be displayed in portfolios.

8. Artists must provide all furnishings and materials for their own display.

9. Tents must comply with NFPA requirements for fire resistant quality of fabric. (Proof on the label).

10. Artists/crafters are individually responsible for payment of applicable sales taxes.

11. Sponsors will provide security between 6 PM Saturday,  and 10 AM, Sunday.  However, sponsors do not assume liability for losses or damages suffered by participants at any time. Participants are responsible for their own liability insurance.

12. The show will be held on the scheduled dates regardless of weather conditions and no refunds will be made for weather conditions.

13. Once accepted, exhibitors agree to abide by the rules of the show. In the event of differing interpretation of the rules, final authority rests with the show sponsors.

14.  Booth is only guaranteed for 14 days after notification of acceptance to show.  All categories are filled on a first come first served basis as per the jury's decision.

15.  Jury fee is non-refundable.

ACCEPTABLE TO SHOW:

Original works of basketry, fiber, glass, instrumentals, jewelry, leather, metals, paintings, photography, clay, prints and wood. The participating artist/crafter must have conceived the design and executed the finished work. Only works in the media presented for judging may be displayed.

UNACCEPTABLE TO SHOW:

Shell crafts; decoupage, appliqué, and decal crafts; works made in commercial molds; from patterns or kits; mass produced items; needlework made from commercial patterns; and works utilizing materials from endangered species. Food vendors will not be accepted other than those approved by show sponsor.
